Locating Fiberous Plants

Yucca, along with stinging nettle, milkweed stems, cattail leaves, river reeds and honeysuckle bark are a few local plants you can use to fashion your own natural cordage if the need arises.

Processing Fibers

We will go over the many methods of how to turn your plant materials into raw fibers which can be used to make anything from a simple string to an incredibly strong rope.

Making your own Handmade Cordage

You will leave our Workshop with your own hand made cordage! Use it as it is or keep adding new fibers until it's as long as you'd like. There's something truly empowering about learning such a useful and ancient skill.
