Loyal to the Soil

Dada Nolt'ee Nowhii! Hello everyone! My name is Alex Osuna, I am White Mountain Apache (Dzil Ligai Sai Ndee) My ancestral homelands are the American Southwest but I was born & raised here in Southern California.

I am a seasoned Herbalist, Food Forager, Bowyer, Trail Guide, Horse Trainer/Rider and overall Survivalist. I've always felt most at home in the forest and gravitated towards occupations that allowed me to be outdoors, especially the ones that included animals. I've been working with horses and other large livestock for the past 12+ years. I've also been fashioning my own hand made bows and arrows for over 2 decades. I have a full life's experience handcrafting all manner of things from brain tanning my own buckskin to ornate beadwork. I have extensive experience working with groups and families as a veteran trail guide for horseback trail rides. I also worked directly with children for many years as a riding instructor. I grow my own fruits, vegetables and herbs at home to maintain a healthy supply of herbal remedies. At this point in my life I take great pride in the fact that I know how to train, care for and ride horses, shoot on foot or on horseback with my own hand made archery gear and how to grow or forage food/medicines year round. I am eager to share my knowledge with the intention of strengthening our communities through self reliance and healthy living habits. I encourage whole families and friend groups to learn these skills together and practice them as a productive bonding experience. I'm here to offer old world knowledge and indigenous perspectives in hopes that I can help people learn how to live more sustainably and in turn, more harmoniously with the natural world that surrounds us.

Let's Grow Together

Community Minded

I'm here to help reconnect people with nature in practical ways that can be fun as well as useful. Everything learned here can be done alone but is far more efficient when working together with friends, family or your local community. We're living through a time where many of us are struggling to keep up with the rising cost of food, medicines and self care items, not to mention our collective awareness of the harmful chemicals used in many of these store bought products. The desire to find a more natural approach to our health has been rising and in this regard, I am empowered by my knowledge, I know exactly what I'm putting into my body. Personally, I don't need to buy fruit or greens for the first 6 to 8 months of the year, I can forage enough for myself and even a bit for friends and family. I use the same teas and extracts that I teach about and fortunately for me, I've had good health my whole life. There are so many edible and useful plants growing here when you combine that with the possibility of growing your own and trading with your neighbors in the future, there is a huge opportunity for community growth and sustainability that we haven't tapped into for generations.
